Each year, as well as running its own major concerts, the Philharmonic takes part in concerts and in events organized by other groups and in additional concerts that are not part of the annual subscription series.
With the Philharmonic's reputation steadily growing, new performance opportunities often arise in the course of a year with a dozen or so performnaces where the RMP assists. Significant recent performances and programs include the following:
THE ROYAL MELBOURNE PHILHARMONIC SOCIETY presented THE STUTTGART UNIVERSITY ORCHESTRA in conjunction with THE MELBOURNE UNIVERSITY CHORAL SOCIETY at St Mary's Star of the Sea West Melbourne.

THE ROYAL MELBOURNE PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA TOUR OF CHINA - December 2007 - January 2008
The full RMP Orchestra of 86 members and pianist Jonathan Bradley toured China in December 2007 to January 2008 performing in 19 Cities to a total audinece of about 30,000 in that country's most prestigeous concert venues. This tour was the initiave of the Chinese Tourist authority and is believed to be the first such arts tour funded entirely from that environment.
THE ROYAL MELBOURNE PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA in conjunction with THE AUSTRALIAN CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY CHOIR, the BOX HILL CHORALE and the MUSIC GLENELG FESTIVAL SINGERS gave the world premiere of the Mary MacKillop Mass by Nicholas Buc, libretto Andrew Wailes.
